For the first time in a while, I got to sleep in and not sleep in a hostel. It was pure magic. As this trip continues on, my body can’t keep up with this sleep deprivation lifestyle. Either I’m cooking a late dinner, working on my computer, waiting for someone to finish in the shower, trying to sleep in a loud room, etc. Sleep is the one thing I miss the most. And Tex Mex.
And since we’re on the subject of Tex Mex, Australia cracks me up with their love for ambiguous Mexican food. Like Mexican cheese.
Jo and I woke up, got ready for the day, and headed out for some lunch. We went to this burger and hot dog joint that looked really good. I was looking over the menu and found a chili dog with “Mexican cheese” on it. I’m sorry — what cheese is that exactly??
I asked the cashier what kind of cheese “Mexican cheese” was, and he looked at me like I was an idiot. Like I’M the crazy one for questioning the Mexican cheese. I then asked, “I mean, is it Colby Jack, Pepper Jack, Cheddar, Mozzarella…?”
He said, “I’m not sure. I think it has Mexican spices in it.”
So I ordered the hot dog, and it’s still inconclusive of what cheese it was. I think it was Colby Jack.
But in all fairness, the chili dog was also super delicious.
We then checked out Geelong’s waterfront and surf shops. I went to the very 1st Rip Curl store which was pretty cool. Only in Australia, ya know? And then we went to the infamous Kmart. Apparently Kmart is just like our Target, but even cheaper. It’s an amazing place. Maybe it’s a good thing that I can’t fit anything else in my backpack.
Can I still be an adult AND have this lunch box for work?
Also, this will be my kids’ future:
And then Jo went off to work, and I went back to bed and watched a movie. Not a bad day.
