Today my surf group had a lovely sleep in since our session didn’t go out until 10am. What a treat! I was able to eat breakfast, do some stretching, work on the balance board for a bit, and apply my sunscreen in a very relaxed pace. It was wonderful!
After six days of surfing, my body was starting to feel really drained. To be honest, I didn’t really want to go out surfing this morning. But knowing that it was all in my mind, I forced myself into the boat to head out.
When we arrived to my least favorite surf spot, I was a little disappointed. And to add to that – the waves were quite crowded. Again, my mind was a negative Nancy and did not want to get into the water at all.
And you want to know the funny thing about it all? Today was hands down my best session yet. I caught 100% of my waves – something I have never accomplished before. On top of that, I was able to really work on those bottom turns.
I came back to the camp feeling on top of the world. I also felt a little sunburned as well. Knowing that if I went back out that afternoon I would be roasted, I decided to stop while I was ahead.
I needed to venture out to Kuta to get some solid wifi, and I heard that the new Novatel was quite excellent. I hired a taxi to take me there, and on our way, we ran into some … barriers.
Mind you, this is the main road (and only road) out of Gerupuk. So my taxi driver offered to take me to Kuta by scooter. And I said, “sure.”
Fifteen minutes later, I was dropped off into the arms of paradise.
I had NO idea that this hotel was going to be so nice. I was expecting a Holiday Inn and I got a 5-star resort. So I’ve had lunch and worked on my website for the past three hours. It’s been really nice to have some “me” time and get away from the camp. And the views ain’t bad either.
As always- I love hearing about your journey, the real, the raw, the bitter, the sweet…oh my friend…reading about your journey has been so neat!
