Never Goodbye, Just See You Later

Today was a very bittersweet day. Today is Bryce, Nicole and Mike’s last day in Europe.

Nicole, Bryce, and I have traveled on and off together for two weeks. We definitely didn’t plan for it to happen, but we simply became friends and merged together as one travel group. Through it all, we shared many adventures and now many memories together.

Tomorrow they head back home to the States.

Because I really felt like a part of the group, I keep thinking that I’m going back home too. And I have many mixed feelings about that.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still in love with travel. But I’ve become acutely aware of things I miss back home. Like leaving my toiletries in the shower when I’m done. Reading menus in English. My mom’s fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

And these are feelings after 14 weeks. How will my feelings evolve over the next 6 months ahead of me?

Since it was our last full day in Valencia (I’m heading to Seville tomorrow), we wanted to see the remaining landmarks and parks that we’ve missed. We climbed to the top of the last gate in Valencia which gave sweeping views of the city. We then rented bikes to explore the massive park north of the city center.

Overall, it was a great way to end our last day in Valencia together.

I’m going to miss them.
