Enjoying the (Not So) Little Things

Versailles

I decided to venture my way out to Versailles early one morning to enjoy the gardens. To be honest, I absolutely hate house/palace/castle tours. I find the architecture to be beautiful, but the inside feels replicated and staged. But the Versailles gardens were a wonder that I wanted to see.

I showed up to the locked gates 15 minutes before they opened. Magically, there were only a handful of us. When we got inside, the gardens engulfed us, and I had the gardens to myself for a majority of my time there.

I found that I would walk and wonder, and then I would sit and think. At one point, I thought, “See Meagan? Just enjoy the little things.”

And then I realized: absolutely nothing about this was a little thing.

I was in France. Paris. Versailles. Sitting in one of the most famous gardens of all time. Soaking in the sun while I sit and contemplate life.

Sure, Meagan. Enjoy the “little things.”

Versailles

After leaving Versailles, I cleaned myself up and took myself out on a date. Sometimes eating dinner alone can be daunting, but I kind of like it. I like reading a good book by candlelight while I wait on my delicious food. Unfortunately in Paris, table space is limited. So instead of a quiet dinner distanced from the others, I had to share a table with a group of three who did not speak English.

And then I felt super lonely.

But no worries, the pizza was amazing, and I ate my feelings ate the whole thing.

After dinner I continued my date to the “best view in Paris.” But no lie, it’s the best view. At the top of Montparnasse Tower, you get a 360 view of Paris, and it’s unbelievable.

As I was editing the photos, I realized that I did a sunrise yesterday and a sunset today. And then I had Fiddler on the Roof stuck in my head for hours.
